McDonald's celebrated National French Fry Day in advance on Thursday, July 12, making the concept of '' Ñapapitas '' come true, which last April became viral as an April Fools joke in Puerto Rico.
For the first time ever, McDonald's redesigned it's iconic French Fry package with a pocket added on the front to place the "ñapa", or "lucky extra": a potato wedge fry. This was created based on the insight that sometimes you do find a wedge fry in your regular french fries and that brings a good feeling or a feeling of luck to the person who gets it.
The concept of Ñapapitas was born in Puerto Rico on "April Fool's Day". The Facebook post had thousands of comments from people asking McDonalds to make it a reality.
